Regulations
Rules for the Lateral Over 60s National Football Cup 2026-27. The full set of rules is in the Standard Code of Rules for Oxfordshire Veterans League, held by the Administrator, Nick Brown.
To embrace new teams, it was agreed for this season only that the 60s teams can have two players who are 59 by 30th June 2026, and who need to be named by 5th September 2026. They cannot be replaced should they get injured or reach their 60th birthday. All other players must be 60 or older on the day of the match. These underage players are listed on the website.
Proof of ID / age should be available for all players on match day.
Players cannot transfer to another club once they have made an appearance for their registered club in the competition at 60s or 65s. However, a player can be registered for different teams at 60s and 65s.
All players should be registered on the FA Club Portals for each team participating in the competition.
The match day squad can be up to 16 named players. It cannot be 16 from, say, 20 attending the game. The subs can roll on or off as many times as they want.
A list of players should be provided to the opposition manager on match day.
The home club shall supply a County Registered Referee. Linesmen will be from each club, ideally not a player, but not the manager / coach.
Sin bins are in operation.
All games are 90 minutes.
If the scores are equal at full time, 5 penalties will be taken by each team.
The fixtures have been published and 60s teams are expected to play on the date given. If the fixture date cannot be made by either club, the clubs are then expected to mutually agree a new date. If both clubs agree on the alternative date, this should be provided to the administrator. If a date cannot be agreed between the two clubs, the organising committee will make a decision.
In the event of a kit clash, the away team is expected to change.
These should be reported by responses to the text received from the FA on match day.
The costs of the match – ground fees and referee – are shared between the clubs. The visiting club should be notified of the costs when the game is confirmed. Costs of refreshments, if provided, are to be agreed.
Any footwear rules relating to the ground used should be provided to the opposition at least a week before the game.
